A touching moment for this movie illustration. Don Vito silently passing control to Michael. I love drawing lines, lots of lines. This was an experiment I will try again. It was difficult to keep the colors so muted. Adding the airbrush in the background really solidified the mood.
I spent some time creating and adjusting color washes in the background to better create an atmosphere. I wanted to ad a slight bit of color in a way that would not be easily noticeable.
What to keep in the background was a challenge. It needs a sense of place but not distracting. Much of this is a balance of behind the scenes.
