
Gaelic fun boy Gerard Depardeau is an actor I struggle with. I don’t care much for him but he is a sublime actor, one of the few that can move me to tears.
I was looking for a scratchy look, something disarming. I see this as a fair representation of how I see him. It began as blue and was changed to green not to symbolize anything but make it a little more disarming.
The effect I wanted is ragged. Partially obscured. I didn’t want to exaggerate or focus on the nose. I added the cigarette to help pull weight from the nose. The hair went thru several iterations. The orange came in last to draw everything together as a composition.
